Empathy

Well, there's a difference between empathy and the performance of empathy, and that's what I'm keen to discuss. Like, never did my enemies stop and say 'hey, we respect you for being trans' -- no, they stalked my personal page, illegally surveilled me and told me constantly that I had to be a man for them. If 'empathy' means stalking my page and then making crude and deliberately annoying references to my posts, then that's actually just the performance of empathy or the performance of tolerance. That's all that Red Scare and Tory are capable of: the performance of tolerance. The real thing is harder to accomplish when you draw down six figures while you're calling someone else a spoiled, privileged kid for making art with their own savings. That's why I want the apologies. They need to demonstrate that they understand just how badly they hurt me under the aegis of conversion therapy. They have to look into my eyes, and see how furious I am about the shit that they did to me. VUW too. Everyone who preferred Tina to Amanda owes me an apology.

Why don't I overdub everything?

Quality of the song alone and all that jazz... Yes, I can harmonise, but every hit song sounds essentially the same these days. It's like special sauce. The naked demos were distinctive. Again, it wa
