to replace Into The Dreaming, which was way more boring than I remembered. Stole the head of the Far From Heaven motif, and started shaping it into a piece. I don't even have manuscript paper, so I'm literally writing down the notes. Yes, for the jazzers: 'head' has another meaning in classical theory. Motifs have heads and tails, or at least that's how I think of them. - I'm not doing a concert entirely of originals; that's something I dislike about rock music. Admittedly, pure rockers aren't as likely to be able to cover tunes, as it's more idiosyncratic. My theory is that I can pack a bag full of scores when I go overseas, and put my stuff in a storage locker. I'll probably do that, but this summer I expect to have some sort of job, even if it's a work-from-home thing. I'm aiming for a full-time job, but my Mum isn't so sure. Personally, I'd rather get stoned and make music than work full-time, so Mum's probably right that I'm trying too hard. - factoid about Chloefilm's music: The opening guitar riff is the final one played in reverse, which is called retrograde in classical theory. Yes, there's lots of archaic names for motivic transformation and harmony that are unique to classical theory. Disguising the main tune like that is something I nicked from Bill Evans records. He occasionally does standards with the improvised section first, then the head.

I'm powerfully uncool, but I quite like cool jazz. My own music is more acid jazz, which is something that I'm self-consciously emphasising with my AI art vibes.

Fun fact: who else knew that Conversations With Myself was recorded on Glenn Gould's piano? I forget where I read that, but I'm pretty sure it's true.
