When I say in S01E10 of the documentary that 'practically everyone in my family gave me a hiding', that's slightly melodramatic. All my brothers hit me, and my Mum, and my Aunt Ruth. My Dad never hit me. The closest he came was when I hit him in the nards in Romania! I got beaten up at high school. Me and my friends fought a lot, and I lost a lot. - My Mum sometimes describes herself as white trash. I dunno if my Haylock and Crawshaw relatives would agree with that, but compared to my Riddell relatives it's much more of a working-class background.
