That's how I make those things. It's essentially modal jazz, but I use the power chords and augmented chords that are typically 'rock' I'm glad that I altered the lyrics on the second chorus, but repeating the verse was effective.

While some of my stuff really does use separate modes after the octave, in this instance what was really going on was false relations. I love those, largely because they're against the rules in classical counterpoint. Same with parallel fifths.
