Re: my show scores. Well, Lauren trained in Melbourne, with Russians, so that's probably why it sounds the way it does. I'm not a huge buff on Aussie classical music, but I do listen to it, and I particularly like Sculthorpe. While the American influences are from Sondheim's corner of the universe. That's slightly too neat, though... I was into Gershwin first, and then I started to like the other musicals. The album cover wasn't my design for Younger Than Springtime: that was Jack Herd, who worked with Stephen at Concentrix (Apple call center: I didn't sign an NDA). The Britishness is more obvious, I think, than the Aussie in my music, but my writing is very influenced by Australian English (their folklore is richer). I'm not self-consciously going for a bloke thing with the prose writing, but I like those dad joke-Kiwiana things unapologetically. - My guitar playing is quite Aussie, though. That's were a lot of the traveling virtuosos were from, but I wasn't really that into guitar. I was much more into films and musicals when I was at uni, but afterwards I felt that desire to show off my virtuosity: that was another me, though, and I find the challenge of ballad singing is quite fun.
