I saw a profile on Billy Porter where he said that he was writing a James Baldwin biopic and that as a writer one shouldn't speculate about what circles he ran in and who he was talking to in the 1950's and 1960's. Obviously, I take a different approach. Sondheim's letters are now available, I presume, which means that it really is possible to track with specific detail what he was doing and who he was collaborating with or sleeping with... all that was too saucy until he died. That Jerome Robbins book is essential reading, and obviously I have a real interest in how Sondheim's legacy is preserved (though I think a biopic is a dumb idea). - Challenging Don resulted in a book that I really enjoyed, and becoming well-known means that music historians are into my quest and AudioCulture has posted various things that I found interesting.
