Am I being a hypocrite?

By using pirated media under fair use, then denying people the right to use my script? I don't think so. My use of copyrighted material was non-profit, clearly news, and was also a form of criticism if you consider the AMPP page as a whole. It's about ethics. In public media, most footage is fair game. RNZ use that excuse too. - In contrast, they expected to exploit my IP (and now my ancestor's IP) for money. Their explicit goal was to get the rights to produce a multi-million dollar story. I'm simply plugging the songs, to use a Tin Pan Alley expression. https://opentext.uoregon.edu/payforplay/chapter/chapter-4-tin-pan-alley-and-music-publishing/ Did Michael Joseph Savage acquire the rights to all the things he sang at meetings? (yes, really: he was a keen singer and dancer). - Plus I've lost money on the whole Dakumentary/AMPP venture. I'm sure that those TVNZ and SPADA people are still making tidy incomes. It wasn't asking the world to licence my script. $20,000 would've gone a long way towards supporting my career, much like VUW licencing my pieces would. Don't complain about my actions if you're not willing to reconsider yours.
