'Creative communities are founded on telling stories about your mates.' 'Creative communities are founded on telling stories about your world.' - that's to include stories about enemies. However, I've done that already, and that's why I'm keen to tell all those unrealistic futuristic sci-fi stories and operas set in ancient times. Plus it's a good way of using genre to hide deep messages; that's the 1940's influence, along with the peak TV era. - I watched Spin The Bottle from Season 4 of Angel this week. I dig those shows, but I'm far from an uberfan of the Whedonverse. I've listened to most of Joss's commentaries for the episodes that he directed, and checked out some of the other DVD extras. Oddly enough, I saw Buffy episodes in Europe as a kid, but when I decided to watch one of those shows - after watching Firefly and Serenity - I chose Angel. I reckon it has way better action scenes than Buffy, plus location shooting that adds more atmosphere than the hermetically sealed vibe of Buffy, which is essentially a show that was shot on studio backlots (like Seinfeld or Thirtysomething). Buffy has better characters, though; S5 of Angel excepted. - I'm happy with the current Dakumentary. It's bloated, but very comprehensive. For parents of teens: I think it has all the important medical, social, legal and political information about cannabis. Given that I'm the emcee of that film, it seems more reasonable to think that it was an audition for presenter and interviewer gigs. From that perspective, though, I think that editing is still my strongest suit when it comes to media. 👋🏻 https://amandariddellmusic.wixsite.com/amanda-michelina-inc/projects-6 - Another Kiwis vs. other cultures thought bubble Maybe other people have different views, but where I grew up infidelity was a really serious thing, and serious relationships often ended if someone was caught cheating. I read Aziz Ansari's book when it was published, and was rather surprised to find that in France and Argentina there's a very different vibe about sex. I'm more enlightened than 2000's Christchurch, though; I'm not hugely into being a mistress ... double entendre ... but I reckon that some people are really into sex, and if that's their thing then it's probably best to make other arrangements (ie polyamoury, open relationships or something in that vein). - What does masochism mean to me? Well, basically I didn't get a whole lot of validation when I was young. Plus I was injury-prone, and somehow became wired to become aroused from negative stimuli. Becoming Amanda was about taking a step away from that pattern, but it's innate. Much like the old gay movements had a lot of success with 'it's not a choice' ... I think that's also true of BDSM+ sexualities. Paraphilias are innate, but this is why most people that do this for real write contracts, set safe words and spend those endless hours bickering over the situations that the Duke of Burgundy condenses. Probably why I'm so cranky re: people who want my IP. I'm very into contracts, even though I'm hardly business-savvy. 🤣 - My personal choice was to make my practice a solo one, but I also loved this idea of social media porn and telling erotic stories, so now it's something that my fans are curious about. I'm hardly hiding, but I'm not so keen to have an IRL kink relationship. There's an element of fear that comes from my past, where people discovering that I had a masochistic streak tended to freak them out and end friendships/relationships. While I'm rarking people up about freedom of gender, I do feel like a significant amount of the discrimination that I've faced has to do with perceptions of my sexual orientation, hence why I outed myself in a film that several hundred random Aucklanders saw. I'm primarily translesbian in terms of a romantic orientation, but masochistic regarding sex and the idea of sex. - Despite living in Wellington, I probably have more fans in Auckland, as that's where the majority of my local views come from. 🍀
