Weed = good creativity

Well, yet again: after a few tracks of karaoke, the pressure is poured on to go legit and to go straight (yes, they mean 'straight' as in they hate my sexuality and are appalled by it). Despite the fact that tons of my contemporaries are into kink. LOTS of them, and that's why I was able to out so many of them in 2020. They do NOT get to tell me how to be. - The result of all this pressure: I'm not coming to Guitar Society, I'm not attending the next composer's meetup and I'm not coming back to the classical scene. Only ever going to say no.

See -- all you've done is make me angry. It hasn't helped anyone, it hasn't succeeded in persuading me. -

Stop pretending as if sobriety is a winner for me. No, it clearly is not. I wrote some really really good stuff while stoned, including ALL of Pan's Preludes, most of my Hidden Emotions and Chamber of Colours suites, all my recent short stories, all my scripts and that's the truth.

I explained this painstakingly with REAL EVIDENCE that ASC's are core to the creative process. So, stop bringing me your outdated, outmoded bigotry, classical and musicals people. - I'm not a 'pointless nostalgic' .. I've made some very pointed comments about how there's a lot more complexity and variety to those old show scores than my peers assumed.

I might love the old shows, but I don't live my life by that code. That's sort-of the point of reimagining them: I think the melodies are great, but yes I rewrite the lyrics for some of them that are dodgy from a post-women's lib pov. - To Wellington: I'm NOT rewriting my songs. I'm NOT rewriting my scripts. You lot are NOT welcome in my world. STOP telling me to be a man, STOP telling me to go sober. Sondheim wasn't sober, nor was Tim Finn or Phil Judd, and nor were half the jazz musicians that I admire. And I bet most of you aren't sober right now either... 😡 You may not like me, but that's only because I criticise you from a position which is obviously less privileged than that of the people who critique me. Yet, they're trying to pretend as if that one tape = more privilege. No, it doesn't. I wasn't given a fancy scholarship to study overseas, and I wasn't given money for any of my shows from the Government. That's privilege. 🔥
