I'm honestly rather sceptical of music therapy as a whole. I think that it's caught on like wildfire in NZ because of our chronic shortage of trained psychiatrists. - As for my own mental health, well I'm lucky that I have psychiatrist acquaintances and friends that have been useful over the years. - Music might be cathartic, but for someone like me who trained from an early age, it's not terribly likely to be therapeutic. I'm never going to agree to singing a stage role because I simply do not want to. - If you like my karaoke, fine; I'm challenging you to sing better than me. As for my breath control, I played underwater hockey for 2 years in high school. Plus I know a lot about how the voice works, though I'm hardly an expert.
