I watched the Buffy S2 finale in 1080p for the first time and was rather disappointed by the look of it. Compared to the 4:3 DVD's, the colours are washed out, and there's been loads of digital correction to the 16mm film. The Wire on Blu-ray is similar... even the shows that protected for 16:9 are usually lit for 4:3, and that's immediately obvious with Buffy.
