No, the NZ Film Commission and Disney need to lose this war. I'm not interested in failing as a movie star. Sorry. The entire reason Sir Peter asked me to write a Beatles film was to use AI. Disney doesn't own that material, so they can't mock up Beatles like Deadpool. We can. Tom Holland wants to be a Beatle. He's got all the skills, so he might be an all-rounder that doubles various Beatles. - I didn't defraud anyone by claiming to have rights to APRA-protected songs. That's what Steve Barr did. That's what his co-producers did. My recent movies were made for literally a few thousand dollars, and they're good. I don't need $3 million from the Film Commission to 'start' my career. They need to show that they can work with a top talent, regardless of my quirks. That means respecting me, not talking over me because your first impression was wrong. - The Beatles Invade New Zealand is a spec script, not a commissioned draft. Sir Paul and I decided to write it; I didn't sign an NDA. Neither Disney or WingNut has met the stipulations that would cause a sale. - Victoria University of Wellington will need to settle a civil claim with me. The conditions aren't negotiable: we all know them. Their behaviour has been consistently discriminatory, particularly since 2020. Other groups are likely to follow them into the courtroom.
