I think that it's more than fair to say that my music has a Christchurch Jazz/RnB/Blues influence, and that's what sets me apart from most of my peers. People that think of me as a classical guitarist probably aren't aware that I was a rhythm guitarist, and by Year 13 I was the rhythm guitarist for the Christchurch Secondary Schools Big Band. That's why I dedicated the recent album to Steve, as all that Latin flair is his doing! 🤣 - I prefer nylon to electric. With a good PA, it's very similar in terms of how it projects. I really hate amplification, though. It's a visceral thing: I reckon that it's more satisfying to get those chills if it's unamplified. That's the maximum rawness.

On record, though, it's different. I encourage people to turn my stuff up to 11, as that's when they'll hear all those crunchy polytonal harmonies that are disguised in my music. I love studio music. That's my passion. I love shooting in real locations too, but currently my goal is to make some shorts that require sets to be built. That's the area that I'm not an expert in, but is critical to truly pro films. Like, Housebound (which I love) used sets for that house.
