I disagree with the diagnosis, transphobes who were predisposed to hate me, but also think exile is better than that. My brother always made me feel like he was the one who was in charge of me, so I don't see why you saw it the other way. I've never even touched anyone, so I think there's a certain degree of people's projections clouding the facts. If you knew me, you'd think that I'm just some dumb stoner; I watched the Newsroom series on Peter Ellis. Show me an instance where I was physically abusive to anyone, and I'd honestly be surprised. I'm a tough negotiator. I'm really not able to be chaste: it's telling that most of the audience presumed that I wasn't the Knight but the other guy. I think none of my characters are 'truly me', but it's been interesting to experiment with that as a narrative tool in this more recent writing. Amanda Riddell is as much an invention as Amanda Michelina, but we all invent ourselves: I just felt like changing my name. 👋 Partially inspired by Dakta, but perhaps subconsciously rather than consciously, and I certainly wasn't keen to be 'Dakta anything', so this was my way of doing that. - So, yeah, it's sad to leave Wellington, but my future is quite bright and it's more a negotiation of how I'll be Amanda rather than a discussion about the validity of that, which I'm very glad about. But I'm also not sexual either: that's what's confusing people. I consider my sexual practice to be a solo one. I'm not prepared to share that with anyone IRL. I think it's a personal choice. It's going to be an uphill battle persuading Pippa about the student loan: it's practical, but it's a lot of money. She'd really want to be sure that I was going to land on my feet with a job or something if I was going to spend most of my inheritance on clearing my student debt. 👋
